How to install phpmyadmin in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

phpMyadmin is a graphical user interface to interact with MySql. Here am explaining how to install phpmyadmin on ubuntu. Before that make sure you have installed LAMP stack on your system. If you haven’t installed LAMP, read this How to Install LAMP on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

Install phpMyAdmin
Update your system by running following command from terminal.

Now run following command to install phpmyadmin on your server.

Now you will be asked few questions to install phpmyadmin correctly.

  • 1. Select apache2 when it asked to select server. Hit “SPACEBAR” to select apache.
  • 2. When it ask whether to use dbconfig-common to set up database, select Yes
  • 3. Enter your database administrator password when they ask on next step.
  • 4. You will be asked for set password for phpmyadmin on next step.

Thats it, now you can access your phpmyadmin through your web browser like http://localhost/phpmyadmin. If you are working on remote server, you need to enter domain name or ip of server instead of localhost.
